Description: These pommel bags are copied from an original pair in our collection, and are pictured on page 59 in the book, "Packing Iron", by Richard Rattenbury. Original maker - Main & Winchester in San Francisco, California circa 1860-1870. These are intended to be used on slick fork (A-fork) saddles. If the diameter of the horn neck is larger than 2 3/4" at the base, please indicate correct size in notes field.

Historical Information:
They illustrate the beautiful and classic carving so prominently displayed on items made by Main & Winchester of San Francisco. Made in the mid-1860's with a holster to accommodate a Colt 1851 Navy revolver, this fine pair of pommel bags was discovered a few years ago hanging in a tack shed on a ranch near Salmon, Idaho.
